Jul 14,  · Deep bass, heard in the digital version of the album, is mirrored on the vinyl with full sound and quality. Finally, the content of the album is superb. Kendrick’s verses are poetic and methodical, with meaning to every line. DAMN. details Kendrick’s early life and origins, as well as the fear and stress of growing fame and wealth/5(1).

Oct 21,  · Erykah Badu was one of the pioneers of 90's neo soul. "Baduizm", her ultra-cool debut album, was a huge success. It went triple platinum and won the Grammy for Best R&B Album/5().

Garden In The City was a track Melanie recorded for Columbia records prior to signing to Buddah. In the UK the album had a special 'scratch n sniff' sleeve with the message 'Rub gently to release the magic of Melanie's Garden.'.

Sep 01,  · All songs by Melanie unless otherwise noted: Tracks (best in italics) Garden In The City- the song starts in an even accentuated Melanie girly voice which changes into a woman's voice as the narrative moves on. Excellent. Love In My Mind – light. We Don't Know Where We're Going - (Barry De Vorzon, Perry Botkin, Jr.)- from the film RPM.

Sneakily marketed by Buddah as a new album after Melanie had left the label, Garden in the City was actually made up of recordings that hadn't made the grade for earlier albums plus a couple of songs from film soundtracks. That didn't augur well for the set, but in fact it isn't too bad. Melanie makes light work of the Jagger/Richards tune "Jigsaw Puzzle," tackles "Lay Lady Lay" with aplomb.
